A welterweight contest between Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks has been added to the UFC on FOX 3 card, UFC president Dana White announced on Sunday. UFC on FOX 3 takes place May 5 from East Rutherford, New Jersey.
While not announced, Koscheck-Hendricks is likely to serve as the co-main event to a lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Nate Diaz on the night. The IZOD Center will host the card.
Koscheck (17-5) earned his 15th career victory inside the Octagon when he claimed a decision over Mike Pierce earlier this month. “Kos” is a former No. 1 contender to the UFC title, and a win over Hendricks could move him to the front of the list to contend once again.
Hendricks (12-1) claimed the biggest win of his young career, as the former NCAA wrestling standout at Oklahoma State University dropped Jon Fitch in 12 seconds last year. Hendricks has won three straight and is 7-1 during his stint in the UFC.
