Now that the fight is actually coming together, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is forced to acknowledge his foil, Chael Sonnen, and the former real estate agent’s constant taunting.
Speaking with Ariel Helwani on a recent episode of UFC Tonight on Fuel TV, Silva gave his take on Sonnen’s recent performance against Michael Bisping and why he thinks Sonnen needs to talk less and train more if he hopes to have a chance in Brazil this summer.
“Chael Sonnen and Bisping, I don’t like this fight. Bisping did a good job, but Chael talks too much. It’s not working. This is my opinion. … Chael needs to train. No more talk, train,” said Silva. “Go to Brazil, big problem. Man, I don’t like to talk too much for Chael. He is not a great athlete. This is bad for the UFC, this is no good for the UFC, it’s bad.”
Never one to avoid a war of words, Sonnen replied promptly via Twitter.
“When I want your advice I’ll beat it out of you, Stupid,” he wrote. “Now go back to singing to hamburgers and telling Segal he’s legit.”
Look forward to more of this until their rumored June meeting.
