Responding to mad speculation over whether or not someone tested positive on their pre- or post-fight medicals from UFC 143, and whether or not that someone is Nick Diaz, Nevada State Athletic Director Keith Kizer e-mailed several MMA outlets today to reveal that there was, in fact, a failed drug test to report.
“Thank you for the many email and phone calls,” wrote Kizer. “I am still waiting for all the steroid and drug test results to come back. We did have at least one positive test. I will send out an email later today on that matter.”
Of course, with Diaz’s open usage of marijuana and his history of testing positive (he tested positive for marijuana after spectacularly defeating Takanori Gomi at Pride 33 with a gogoplata submission, rendering the landmark win a no contest) for the drug, rumors that Stockton’s favorite son has tested positive again have been spreading like wildfire.
Diaz’s manager, Cesar Gracie, can only say that he’s been told not to comment on those rumors (via Josh Gross of ESPN’s Twitter). However, he also revealed today that Diaz is willing to fight Condit anytime, anywhere, for no extra money; this despite the fact that Gracie has repeatedly denied the rematch will take place, leading many to speculate over what would be keeping Diaz out of the cage.
More to come as details are revealed.
