After first saying it was, “crazy,” to even thing about, UFC president Dana White changed his course in regards to a possible immediate rematch between interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz at the post-fight press conference Saturday night for UFC 143. Of course, all of this is based on Georges St-Pierre not being able to return soon to action, and Diaz not staying true to his retirement announcement.
“I was thinking it after the fight,” White said (thanks to MMAWeekly.com for transcribing). “We can do that fight again before GSP comes back. It depends on Carlos. Carlos has really got to say, and Nick’s got to say I want to fight him again too.”
Condit, who earned a decision victory, said afterwards he believed he won the fight and that it wasn’t close. Many in the MMA world have had split opinions on the result, leading to talk of a rematch between the two. Diaz, however, told Joe Rogan that he was tired of all the (expletive) in the UFC and was going to leave the sport. Diaz did not attend the post-fight press conference.
