Following his UFC 125 beating of Brandon Vera, it was revealed that Thiago Silva had used a fake urine sample to hide the fact that he had taken steroids during preparation for the bout; the Brazilian light heavyweight was suspended for a year as a result.
Vera was cut following the loss, but had his status on the roster reinstated in light of Silva’s infraction. With Silva having just served out his suspension, a rematch — which Vera had been campaigning for in order to exact revenge — between the two was scheduled for UFC on FX 3 this May.
Unfortunately, Vera will have to wait even longer to get a second shot at beating Silva, as the UFC just announced that The Truth has been injured and forced off of the UFC on FX 3 fight card.
Aaaand scratch that – Vera injured, replacement TBD. RT @ufc your wait for Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva rematch will be over May 15th
The search is currently underway for Silva’s replacement opponent.
UFC on FX 3 is scheduled to take place on May 15 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
