Derek Brunson will test his undefeated record against former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey. Brunson confirmed the fight on his Twitter account Thursday.
Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey takes place March 3 from Columbus, Ohio. In the main event, Miesha Tate will defend her women’s title against Ronda Rousey. The Brunson-Souza bout is likely slated for the main card, which will be broadcast by Showtime.
Brunson is a perfect 9-0 in his MMA career, as the former Div. II All-American wrestler has won all three of his Strikeforce matches. Four of his wins have come via knockout, while three were submission victories.
Souza will be returning to the cage for the first time since dropping the Strikeforce 185-pound title to Luke Rockhold back in September. Souza is 14-3 in his career and 4-1 in Strikeforce.
