It looks like War Machine — the fighter formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver — won’t be keeping his spot in Bellator’s season six welterweight tournament after all, as the 30-year-old revealed today via Twitter that he’s been sentenced to his second year-long jail sentence.
Seems my year in jail wasnt enough. Just got sentenced to another year in Vegas for some old bullsh**. Nevermind Im rehabilitated. Nevermind Ive been out for over 6 months now and doing great and am finally back on my feet. Nevermind all my students that will miss me. Do another year and rot n waste time. Make no money, pay no taxes. Whatever, I just hope my boy @bensaundersMMA wins @BellatorMMA tournament.
Cant stop me, all you can do is delay the inevitable. War Machine will always be back!
War Machine recently served out a year bid in San Diego County’s George Bailey Detention Facility for a felony assault conviction stemming from an incident that took place at a bar in Point Loma; he was released on July 15.
Following his release, War Machine secured a bout against Roger Huerta and looked rather impressive in stopping the fan-favorite via third round TKO.
No word yet on exactly which incident this most recent conviction is related to, or on the exact charge.
