Wilson Gouveia and Antonio McKee each claimed victories at Friday night’s MFC 32: Bitter Rivals event, as Gouveia stopped Dwayne Lewis and McKee took a decision from Brian Cobb.
The card, which went down inside the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was put on by Maximum Fighting Championship. The main event pitted Gouveia against Lewis, with the former UFC veteran ending things in the second round via TKO.
McKee, who was stripped of his title earlier in the day due to missing weight by seven pounds, had no problems handling Cobb early. The veteran struggled late, but did enough to claim the victory. MFC CEO Mark Pavelich said McKee was cut after the miss weigh-in, and added that Cobb – who also missed weight – would be released if he lost the fight. It remains to be seen if Cobb’s release will be put into place.
In other action, Ryan McGillivray submitted Diego Bautista, Nathan Coy stopped Dhiego Lima and Jamie Toney downed Kyle Jackson. McGillivray and Coy will now meet for the MFC welterweight title later this year.
