Kendall Grove may have been declared the victory Saturday night in his home state of Hawaii, but, “Da Spyder” was far from pleased. Grove topped Ikuhisa Minowa in the main event of ProElite 3: Da Spyder vs. Minowaman by unanimous decision.
Grove, a former UFC competitor, tried several times to finish the fight, but he was unable to put away the Japanese legend “Minowaman.” Grove has won his last two fights since being released by the UFC in early 2011 following two straight losses.
“I should have finished him, but he’s a legend and it’s a privilege for me to fight a guy like Minowa,” Grove said after the fight (thanks to MMAFighting.com for the quote).
In other action, Olympian Sara McMann dominated Hitomi Akano, earning a decision victory. Richard Odoms and Ryan Martinez both advanced to the finals of the heavyweight grand prix, while Patrick Cummins and Brant Schermerhorn earned quick victories on the HDNet-televised card.
