A pair of newcomers will square off opposite one another inside the Octagon at UFC on FUEL TV 1, as Bernardo “Trekko” Magalhaes and Yoislandy Izquierdo have agreed to fight. Sherdog.com confirmed the bout this past weekend.
On his Facebook page, Magalhaes posted, “Very happy to get my first UFC contract! The fight will be on 15th February. All (that) I need is a hard training focus and let go. Can’t wait.”
UFC on FUEL TV 1 will be headlined by welterweights Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez. The co-main event boasts Stefan Struve vs. Dave Herman. It was not announced where the Magalhaes-Izquierdo bout would be slated. However, a spot on the prelim card is expected.
Magalhaes (11-1) is the reigning lightweight champion of an Australian promotion called Cage Fighting Championship. Izquierdo is a perfect 6-0 in his pro MMA career.
