According to a report by Tatame.com, UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado has been knocked out of Saturday’s UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes card due to a rib injury. Maldonado was set to face Caio Magalhaes on the undercard.
Nothing has been confirmed by either the UFC or Maldonado. UFC 142 takes place from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
This marks the fifth time a fight has been changed from this card, including multiple changes for Magalhaes, who was originally set to meet Stanislav Nedkov. Maldonado was looking to rebound from a loss to Kyle Kingsbury this past June, ending his 11-fight win streak.
FightLine will have complete coverage of Saturday’s event, which features UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo defending his title against Chad Mendes. Vitor Belfort and Anthony Johnson square off in the co-main event.
