Round 1: No glove touch to start out this title fight. Jardine comes out of the gates hot, not landing much but pressuring. They trade kicks, gauging range. Jardine steps in and eats a shot. Rockhold comes in with a flying knee and Jardine catches it, fighting for the single. Rockhold defends and turns Jardine into the fence, working knees. Rockhold keeping Jardine pinned against the cage, they’re both trading knees, with Rockhold getting the better of it. Rockhold lands an elbow on the break. Rockhold lands a spinning back kick flush to the midsection after Jardine eggs him on. Jardine pushes in and Rockhold counters. Jardine on his heels, but he catches Rockhold with a hard right. Rockhold shakes it off and continues to work the outside. Rockhold with a body kick. Jardine with a pair of good leg kicks that Rockhold shakes his head at. They both dig in and trade, with Rockhold catching Jardine behind the ear with a hard right that briefly drops him. Jardine back up and fighting, countering well off of a kick. Rockhold lands a stiff right hand counter that staggers Jardine. He chases him down and pours it on with more punches, never relenting as Jardine wilts against the cage. Rockhold beats on Jardine until the ref stops the fight, a few punches too late.
