Strikeforce 38: Tarec Saffiedine Vs. Tyler Stinson

Round 1: No glove touch here. Stinson coming out aggressively, feeding him some straight shots. Saffiedine defending well, but moving backward. Saffiedine adjusts and lands a good right hand, followed by a leg kick. They go back and forth with leg kicks. Tarec goes high with a kick that Stinson blocks at the last moment. Saffiedine in rhythm, countering well while circling away and avoiding Stinson’s range. Saffiedine lands a right hand and a right head kick. Saffiedine pops Stinson’s head back with a front kick to the face. Saffiedine presses him into the fence, but gets lazy on the break and eats a mean elbow from Stinson that puts Saffiedine on wobbly legs. Saffiedine gets hold of Stinson and presses him into the cage again, taking him down after he throws a knee. Stinson threatens with an armbar, but Saffiedine defends and they get to their feet. Saffiediene is bleeding badly from the right eye, Stinson is stalking after him and taking him apart. Saffiedine holding on, he’ll make it to the bell.

Round 2: Stinson right back on the March, walking Saffiedine down. Saffiedine is still looking to counter, but he’s more tentative now. Stinson chasing Saffiedine down, putting him on the run with some hard punches and a head kick. Stinson is taking his time and staying patient. Saffiedine lands a one-two and drives in for a nice takedown after, planting Stinson against the fence. Saffiedine getting in some hard short shots to the head and body, while Stinson tries to defend. Saffiedine dropping some elbows, Stinson looks bloodied. The round winds down with Saffiedine on top going to work with ground and pound, stifling Stinson completely from the top.

Round 3: Saffiedine hits Stinson low right off the bat and they take a quick break to allow him to recover. After a brief exchange, Saffiedine powers into a double leg and dumps Stinson to the mat. Stinson trying very hard to make space, go for a submission or extricate himself, but Saffiedine keeps him pinned. Saffiedine’s assault has become less threatening and less constant, but Stinson looks to be unable to get his feet. Either Saffiedine or Stinson’s cuts – maybe both of them – have opened up, blood now splattered over both men. They get stood up. Saffiedine with a knee, Stinson comes back with a left hook. Stinson charging after Saffiedine, keeping him on his heels until the end.
