Overeem walks out calm and collected as always, a smile on his face as he enters the arena to swelling house music. To the strains of a driving country ballad, Lesnar walks out slow. He gets pumped up and into his song as he prepares to enter the cage. Mario Yamasaki will referee the heavyweight main event.
Round 1: Lesnar with a leg kick and a nice jab. Overeem wings an overhand right that grazes Lesnar. Lesnar misses on lunging shots. Lesnar goes for a takedown and Overeem avoids it. Overeem already bleeding from the right eye. Overeem lands a hard knee, another. Lesnar answers and shakes Overeem off. Overeem closes the distances and hammers more knees to his gut. Lesnar is wincing. Overeem throws a body kick, clearly targeting Lesnar’s midsection. Lesnar on his heels now, Overeem stalking him. Overeem is walking Lesnar down, landing hard, stinging shots. Overeem goes hard to the body with a kick that sends Lesnar to the mat, clutching his midsection. Overeem swarms him, hammering him with hard right hands to the head. Lesnar’s covering up, but a hard punch to the body cowers him and Yamasaki calls it.

Overeem talks through his win, is excited to face dos Santos. Lesnar stops Overeem to give him respect before taking the mic. After thanking his training partners and family, Lesnar humbly announces his retirement. Lesnar says he’s had a rough couple of years because of diverticulitis. He said he promised his family he’d retire if he lost, if not retire after the championship fight. He emotionally thanks Overeem, the UFC and the fans.
