UFC 141: Dong Hyun Kim Vs. Sean Pierson

Round 1: They touch gloves and set up in the center, Kim landing a glancing leg kick. Another lands more flush. Pierson grabs hold of Kim and tags him with a left to the body. Pierson wading in without head movement and eats two right jabs for it. Pierson with a good leg kick. Kim tries for a crane kick sort of strike that Pierson catches, but can’t use to take him down. Kim holding the edge in the stand up so far, working his range well and avoiding Pierson’s shots. They clinch again and Kim throws Pierson off-balance, briefly working a headlock. Kim takes him for a ride with a slick Judo throw against the cage, but Pierson rolls into top position and takes Kim’s back.

Round 2: Kim with a good leg kick. Kim settles back into a comfortable distance, from which he touches Pierson with both kicks and punches. Pierson closes the distance and presses Kim into the cage, but Kim fights free quickly and they set up in the center again, where Kim goes back to work. Kim lands a hard two-punch combo as Pierson wades in with his hands low. They clinch against the cage briefly again. Kim lands with the crane kick and follows up with a hard left hand. Pierson with a couple of decent knees from the clinch. Kim sticks another one-two. Kim defends a takedown and finally lands the crane kick flush; it sends Pierson reeling. He’s saved by the bell, but he walks on very shaky legs back to his corner.

Round 3: Pierson starts the round still looking a little weak-kneed, but he’s in there to fight, pressing Kim into the cage after working some strikes. Kim frees himself quickly. After a brief bout of striking, Kim times a beautiful takedown. Pierson fights to his feet, but Kim stays on him against the fence and takes him down with a nice trip. Kim working from top position, but Yves Lavigne stands them up, questionably. Kim goes back to working from the outside with a minute left. Pierson closes the distance and they battle for position briefly, with Kim freeing himself in short order. Kim holds the edge in the stand up until the bell.
