Jake Ellenberger will continue to try and work his way up the UFC welterweight order when he meets Diego Sanchez in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 1. Ellenberger-Sanchez will take place on February 15 from Omaha, Nebraska.
In his last bout, Ellenberger earned a victory over former champion Jake Shields in just 53 seconds, handing Shields his second career stoppage defeat. Now, with Sanchez prepared to face off with him across the Octagon, “The Juggernaut” is ready for a war.
“Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. That’s what I’ve always done,” said Ellenberger, in a recent interview with MMAWeekly.com. “If it goes three, if it goes five rounds if it goes 10 rounds, I mean, I’ll be ready for sure. I always look to finish fights as fast as I can, just being prepared as I can. But I can see a TKO in the first or second round.”
With it being the headliner fight, the bout will be scheduled for five rounds. In his career, Ellenberger has gone the distance eight total times in 31 fights, winning four and losing four. He also owns 17 victories via knockout and five submission triumphs.
