Gilbert Melendez and Jorge Masvidal, the main events fighters from this past Saturday’s Strikeforce card, each received 45-day suspensions from competition after going five rounds against each other. Melendez successfully defended his Strikeforce lightweight title with a decision victory over Masvidal.
Several other fighters will also require attention from their respective doctor’s, including K.J. Noons and Billy Evangelista. About the only fighter to avoid any kind of suspension was Cris “Cyborg” Santos, who needed just 16 seconds to defeat Hiroko Yamanaka.
