UFC president Dana White announced the first bout for UFC 145 on Tuesday, as Che Mills and Rory MacDonald will do battle in Montreal. UFC 145 is set for March 24 from the Bell Centre.
“Verbal agreements are in for an explosive welterweight match up between ‘Beautiful’ Che Mills and Rory ‘Ares’ MacDonald at UFC 145 next March in Canada,” White said.
Mills (14-4) tried out for The Ultimate Fighter during the Team USA vs. Team UK season, but failed to make the house. He has won five consecutive bouts, including his Octagon debut over Chris Cope at UFC 138 which earned him Knockout of the Night honors.
MacDonald (12-1) will be competing in his native country and will be looking to build on wins over Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle. The first and only career loss on MacDonald’s resume came at the hands of Carlos Condit, who will compete for the UFC interim welterweight title next year, at UFC 115.
