UFC president Dana White gave everyone worried about next Saturday’s UFC 141 main event a sigh of relief, posting on his Twitter account that Alistair Overeem has passed his initial pre-fight drug test. Overeem will face Brock Lesnar in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Overeem-Lesnar will be for the No. 1 contender spot in the UFC’s heavyweight division. The winner will face Junior dos Santos, the current champion, in 2012.
“Overeem is ready to go!!! Lesnar vs. Overeem is on,” White tweeted.
“The Reem” came under heavy scrutiny recently when it was reported that he skipped a drug test to fly back to Holland. Eventually, Overeem came out and said it was to care for his sick mother, and that he didn’t know about the test and had already purchased the plane ticket back home.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has granted Overeem temporary license, meaning he will have to pass several extra tests but is good to go against Lesnar.
