It’s been over a year since we last saw Brock Lesnar inside the Octagon, but the former UFC heavyweight champion doesn’t believe that will have any impact on him when he takes on Alistair Overeem later this month. Lesnar-Overeem is the main event for UFC 141, which goes down December 30 from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lesnar has been out of action due to another bout of diverticulitis suffered after dropping the UFC heavyweight title to Cain Velasquez in 2010. Now, the former WWE superstar takes on Overeem, an ex-Strikeforce heavyweight champion.
“I don’t care how many fights he has, he’ll know really quickly he has a fight on his hands when he steps inside the cage,” Lesnar said. “At the end of the day, it is going to come down to who wants the fight more. And at the end of the day, Brock Lesnar wants this fight more than Alistair Overeem.”
The winner of Lesnar-Overeem becomes the No. 1 contender to current UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, and will face dos Santos in 2012.
