After several weeks of no injury news to report, UFC 142 continues to get hit hard by bad news. Paulo Thiago, according to a report by Tatame.com, has suffered an elbow injury and will not be able to face Mike Pyle at UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes next month.
UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes is set to take place from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 14. UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will defend his title against Chad Mendes in the main event.
Thiago, a Brazilian himself like Aldo, snapped a two-fight losing streak with a victory over David Mitchell at the last UFC show in Brazil this past August. Thiago is 14-3 in his career, including a 4-3 mark inside the Octagon.
A new opponent for Pyle (21-8-1) has not been announced, as the U.S. fighter looks to get back on track following a TKO loss to Rory McDonald at UFC 133.
