The UFC has announced that Ultimate Fighter season 14 member Johnny Bedford has agreed to step in and face Eddie Wineland at UFC on FOX 2, which is set for January 28 from Chicago, Illinois. Bedford lost in the semifinals on TUF to John Dodson.
Bedford, who won his UFC debut with a TKO of Louis Gaudinot earlier this month, replaces Demetrious Johnson in the bout with Wineland. Johnson was shifted to the four-man tournament to crown a flyweight champion.
Wineland has dropped his two UFC fights, falling to Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez by decision. He is 18-8-1 in his career and a former WEC bantamweight champion.
UFC on FOX 2 will feature bouts to determine the No. 1 contender at both light heavyweight and middleweight. Rashad Evans and Phil Davis meet in the five-round 205-pound main event, while Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz square off to determine the next contender at 185 pounds.
