Justice is served.
MMAFighting has reported that the result of the UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos featherweight tilt between Mackens Semerzier and Robert Peralta has been officially overturned and deemed a No Contest.
Semerzier and Peralta met on the undercard of the UFC’s first Fox show, with Semerzier controlling the action throughout the match until the two fighters accidentally clashed heads early on in the third round. Semerzier was sent reeling to the mat, the referee didn’t see what dropped him and let the fight go on, allowing Peralta to finish the bout with strikes on the ground.
Peralta was initially declared the winner via TKO at 1:54 of the third round, but Semerzier and his management team at SuckerPunch Entertainment declared their intention to appeal the bout’s result to the California State Athletic Commission. Their appeal has gone through and the books now officially have the bout listed as a No Contest.
Semerzier is campaigning for a rematch against Peralta, who failed to attend the CSAC meeting or respond to requests for his presence.
UFC on Fox 1 went down on November 12 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
