Fedor Emelianenko-Satoshi Ishii Planned For New Year’s Eve

Fedor Emelianenko will continue his quest to return to the highest ranks of the heavyweight division when he meets Satoshi Ishii at M-1 Global and Dream’s New Year’s Eve card later this month. The bout will serve as the main event, with the show being televised by HDNet in North America.

Emelianenko was stuck in a three-fight losing streak before defeating Jeff Monson in his native country of Russia recently. Fedor (32-4-1) will be making his return to Japan after a three-year hiatus.

“Fedor has been in great shape, and is ready for what we think will be a hard and competitive fight,” M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan said in a release.

Ishii (4-1-1) is an Olympic gold medalist for Japan in Judo. He owns wins over Jerome LeBanner and Ikuhisa Minowa.

Genkidesuka!!Oomisoka!! 2011 takes place from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. A total of 11 bouts have been set for the night including mixed rules and pro wrestling fights.
