After going through a grueling interview process with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, it appears that the Alistair Overeem-Brock Lesnar heavyweight war for UFC 141 is set to go down. UFC 141 takes place December 30 from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Overeem was grilled during questioning by NSAC over concerns in regards to his steroid test. “The Reem” flew back to Holland at the last minute to be with his sick mother, missing a scheduled test by NSAC. The lone saving grace in skipping the random test was that Overeem had booked the flight a few days prior to finding out about it.
In receiving clearance to face Lesnar, Overeem must take a new steroid test at an independent lab within 72 hours, take another test once he arrives in the U.S. before fighting Lesnar, and take further tests for the next six months to a year at his own expense.
For now, it appears we will find out a No. 1 contender to Junior dos Santos when Overeem and Lesnar collide later this month.
