UFC 140: Yves Jabouin Vs. Walel Watson

Round 1: Watson starts things off, whiffing on a head kick. Watson throws a pair of side kicks and then tags Jabouin twice with his left hand as Jabouin tries to close the distance. Jabouin seems to be having trouble getting inside Watson’s reach, though he tags him with a right hand when Watson misses on a spinning back fist. Watson moves in behind a few punches and tries to get the takedown, but Jabouin reverses and ends up putting Watson on his back. Watson gets to his feet and reverses beautifully when Jabouin tries to take him down again. Both men fighting, but neither landing completely flush.

Round 2: Jabouin catches a body kick and lands a nice right behind it. Watson working his kicks on the outside, putting together punches in between. Watson’s reach is giving Jabouin fits now, but the shorter fighter is still hanging in. He lands a body kick that makes Watson wince, maybe because it grazed a little low. Watson opening up more. They both throw spinning back kicks that miss. Jabouin lands a good leg kick. Watson knocks Jabouin back with a strong side kick. Watson lands a right but then eats a hard spinning back fist. Jabouin hits a nice takedown, but Watson puts on the guillotine with ten seconds to go. It’s deep, but Jabouin pops his head out at the end.

Round 3: They come out smiling and touch gloves for the last round. Jabouin lands a hard leg kick. Jabouin lands a turning side kick of his own. Watson checks a kick and fires back with one his own that lands hard. Watson pecking away from the outside again, but Jabouin is still doing well, landing hard leg kicks. Jabouin with a front kick and another hard leg kick. Watson returns with one of his own. Jabouin hits the takedown, but Watson threatens with a submission and reverses taking half guard with two minutes to go. Watson is looking to work the D’arce choke. He connects his hands and it looks tight, he squeezes hard, but Jabouin fights free and to his feet. Watson shakes out his arms. Both men have slowed down now, with Jabouin throwing hard and looking for the knockout. They exchange until the bell.
