Former UFC champion Randy Couture knows what it feels like to be in the shoes of both current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his opponent tonight, Lyoto Machida. UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida takes place from Toronto, Ontario, Canada on pay-per-view.
Couture, in a recent interview with ESPN.com, discussed how he feels the Jones-Machida match will go. “The Natural” lost earlier this year to Machida via knockout.
“I don’t think it’ll be a walkover. I don’t think Jon will blow Machida’s doors off, but Jon does have everything firing for him right now,” Couture said. “If Jon can get his hands on Machida, he can take him down and it will be interesting to see how Lyoto deals with being under a guy like Jon.”
Jones has already defeated a pair of former UFC champions this year, as “Bones” defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for the title and defended it successfully against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Machida is 1-2 in his last three, having topped Couture following losses to Rua and Jackson.
