UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida goes down tomorrow night from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. In the main event, 24-year-old UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will take on former champion Lyoto Machida and in the co-main event, Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will square off to further develop the heavyweight title picture.
Yesterday, UFC president Dana White spoke briefly on both of the fights at the UFC 140 pre-fight presser.
On Jones-Machida: “I keep saying this every time Jones fights: if he walks through Machida the way he has everybody else, just – I love this fight. I think, stylistically, this is an incredible fight. Both guys have a very flashy, interesting style. I don’t know what to expect. I expect fireworks, five rounds. We’ll see what happens. Jones doesn’t stop, he keeps coming forward, throws elbows, knees, punches, kicks. Machida’s very defensive and elusive, throws kicks and punches from different angles – this is a fun fight.”
On Mir-Nogueira: “This is a big fight for both of these guys to bet back into the heavyweight title picture. It’s an important fight for them.”
FightLine will be back tomorrow night with live, ongoing coverage of the event, beginning around 6:00pm ET with the preliminary card.
