Mike Pierce, a student of Chael Sonnen’s who defeated Paul Bradley in his last UFC bout, will replace Carlos Condit and meet Josh Koscheck at UFC 143. Condit was moved to a UFC interim welterweight title match with Nick Diaz on the card after Georges St-Pierre was forced out with a knee injury.
“It’s on! Kos tried wiggling outta this one too, but Feb 4th he’s mine,” Pierce wrote on his Twitter account Thursday.
Pierce is 5-2 inside the Octagon, with his lone losses coming at the hands of Johny Hendricks via split decision and Jon Fitch. He holds a career mark of 13-4 overall, including six wins by knockout.
Koscheck, a former contender to St-Pierre and the welterweight crown, stopped Matt Hughes in his last fight. He has campaigned hard for a match with Condit, but will settle for Pierce at UFC 143 on February 4 from Las Vegas, Nevada.
