UFC president Dana White decided enough was enough in terms of comments made by Miguel Torres recently, announcing that the UFC has released the former WEC champion. Torres reportedly tweeted, “If a rape van was called a surprise van, more women wouldn’t mind going for rides in them. Everyone likes surprises.”
Torres took the comment down, but not before others picked up on it, including Michael Landsberg of Off The Record. Landsberg asked White about the remarks, and the brash leader of the UFC went on to cut Torres a few hours later.
In his last UFC fight, Torres defeated Nick Pace at UFC 139 by decision. Torres has claimed in reports that he was quoting the television show, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, in regards to his comments.
This decision comes on the heels of comments made by Rashad Evans concerning the Penn State University sexual assault scandal. White has gone on record saying Evans understands what he said was wrong, but does not plan any action against the former UFC light heavyweight champion.
