UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos went under the knife Wednesday for a knee injury, and reports from the fighter’s trainer have everything looking good. Luiz Carlos Dorea posted on his Twitter account that the operation was a success for dos Santos.
Dos Santos also left a posting on his own Twitter account before surgery, writing, “I’m getting ready for my knee surgery, send good vibes and wish me luck, guys! Amen and thanks for the support, it’s good to know you’re all praying for me.”
Dos Santos defeated Cain Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight title last month despite suffering a torn meniscus in training for the bout. “Cigano” will meet the winner of Brock Lesnar-Alistair Overeem in 2012 in his first title defense. Lesnar-Overeem meet in the main event of UFC 141 at the end of December.
