The UFC announced that former Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 141, as he will step in for T.J. Grant and face Jacob Volkmann. UFC 141 is set for December 30 from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Escudero captured the eighth season lightweight title of TUF, defeating Phillipe Nover. He went 2-2 in the UFC, causing his release after a submission loss to Charles Oliveira in which he also did not make weight. Escudero went on to go 5-1 in his next six fights, including a victory at Bellator 55 over Cesar Avila.
Volkmann is on a four-fight win streak, improving his record to 13-2 overall. His lone two defeats have come in the UFC at the hands of Martin Kampmann and Paulo Thiago. The Escudero-Volkmann bout has not been placed anywhere on the card yet, but it will likely serve as a fight on the prelim card.
