Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and ex-UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar will likely never sit down and share a meal together. The two have been involved in a heavy feud since their first fight, which Mir won via submission. Lesnar avenged the loss in 2009 with a TKO victory.
Mir has also been a regular commentator with the UFC and WEC, so when asked how Lesnar did as an analyst on UFC on FOX 1: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos, Mir had some interesting words for the former WWE superstar.
“Brock did such a great job, I don’t know if I could ever replace that. He was so articulate and well-spoken that I think he pretty much slammed it into the ground,” said Mir, in a recent interview with MMA Weigh-In (thanks to MMAMania.com for transcribing). “You know how bad it was? I felt bad for watching it. You know it’s bad when I’m sitting there feeling bad for him, like, ‘Man, someone just cut the mic, pull (the camera) over, do a three shot!’ I think I could have pulled it off a little bit better. Obviously it will be competitive when we fight each other, but as far as speaking terms, not so much.”
Mir will face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira this coming Saturday night at UFC 140 from Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the co-main event. FightLine will have complete coverage of the entire event. As for Lesnar, he is locked in a No. 1 contender match with Alistair Overeem set for the end of the year at UFC 141.
