The last season of The Ultimate Fighter to be aired on SpikeTV concluded this weekend, with The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale having taken place on Saturday at the Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas.
MMAJunkie reports that the event drew an audience of 1,649 for the pint-sized arena, as compared to the 2,053 attendees drawn in by The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. The gate information for The Ultimate Fighter 14 will be released shortly by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
The Ultimate Fighter 14 was the first season to feature bantamweight and featherweight fighters, as well as the last to be broadcast on SpikeTV. The opposing coaches were UFC middleweight fighters Michael “The Count” Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller.
On Saturday, Greg Jackson-trained 135-pounder John Dodson knocked out Team Alpha Male product TJ Dillashaw in the first round to become the first bantamweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter. Diego Brandao took home the six-figure contract for the featherweights, taking out a game and dangerous Dennis Bermudez via vicious first-round submission after getting knocked to the mat with a hard punch.
In the night’s main event, Bisping came back from a tough first round to take out an exhausted Mayhem Miller via third-round TKO, winning the TUF 14 coaches battle.
