With The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale in the books, the last season of TUF to air on SpikeTV has concluded and the UFC has, as always, handed out bonuses to the superlative competitors on the night’s card, tonight in the amount of $40,000.
24-year-old Brazilian fighter Diego Brandao walked away the night’s biggest winner, not only taking home a six-figure contract by virtue of submitting Dennis Bermudez in the TUF 14 featherweight final match, but also taking home two of the night’s $40,000 fight night bonuses.
Brandao and Bermudez engaged in a pitched one-round battle, with the grappler Bermudez showing much-improved striking by knocking Brandao down with a hard right hand and the striker Brandao displaying potent submission skills by tapping out his opponent from the brink of defeat with a wrenching armbar.
For nearly taking home Bermudez’s arm too, Brandao was awarded the Submission of the Night award; for putting on the most scintillating battle of the evening, he was given Fight of the Night, bringing his total bonus winnings for the night to $80,000.
Of course, Bermudez took home $40,000 as well for his part in the Fight of the Night.
John Dodson, too, had a pretty damn fine evening, as he became the bantamweight winner of TUF 14 and walked away with an extra $40,000 for the manner in which he did so; The Magician put fellow finalist TJ Dillashaw down with a crushing left hook in the first round.
The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale went down from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
