It looks like the UFC will be returning to the Land Down Under soon, as Bettor.com reports that the promotion has scheduled an event to take place in Australia early next year.
According to Bettor, the event will be numbered UFC 145 and will take place on March 4 from the Allphones Arena, which is located in Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia.
Should the report hold water, UFC 145 will mark the UFC’s third trip to Australia, having previously gone to the country with UFC 110 in 2010 and UFC 127 this past February.
UFC 110 was an overwhelming success in the market, selling out quickly. The fight card, which was held at the Acer Arena in Sydney featured a heavyweight tilt between recently-dethroned UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and MMA legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Velasquez heralded his brief title run by knocking out Big Nog quickly and emphatically on the card.
UFC 127 was an even bigger success than UFC 110, becoming the fastest selling event (along with UFC 115) in the promotion’s history. UFC 127 was also held at the Acer Arena and featured a welterweight battle between BJ Penn and Jon Fitch in the main event that was contested to a draw.
