The UFC has completed the 12-fight lineup for UFC 144 by adding Takanori Gomi and George Sotiropoulos to the preliminary card. UFC 144 takes place February 26 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Gomi is the latest Japanese fighter signed to compete in his native country, joining the likes of Yoshihiro Akiyama, Yushin Okami and Hatsu Hioki. “The Fireball Kid” is just 1-3 while fighting in the UFC, including losses to Kenny Florian, Clay Guida and Nate Diaz.
Sotiropoulos won seven straight fights and seemed destined to become a contender at lightweight before back-to-back defeats at the hands of Dennis Siver and Rafael Dos Anjos.
UFC 144 will feature a lightweight championship match between Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson, along with a co-main event of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson taking on Ryan Bader.
