Rick Story suffered his second consecutive loss this past weekend to Martin Kampmann, as “The Hitman” claimed a decision victory over Story at UFC 139: Shogun vs. Hendo. Story revealed some serious injury news on his Twitter account recently.
“I wanted to apologize to all of my fans for my last performance. I ruptured my bursa (sac) and tore my meniscus in the second round,” Story wrote. “I lost all strength and made it difficult to fight.”
Despite the sting of back-to-back losses and the injuries, Story did have good news to report, adding, “But I just signed a new 4 fight contract with the UFC so be ready for me to fight again soon!”
Prior to the defeats against Kampmann and Charlie Brenneman, Story had won six straight fights in the UFC, including bouts over Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks.
