MMAJunkie has gotten their hands on the ratings information for this weekend’s Bellator 58 event, which aired live on MTV2 (the preliminary card was broadcast on SpikeTV.com), reporting that the broadcast drew an average of 269,000 viewers.
Likely during the Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler lightweight championship barnburner, the broadcast peaked at 345,000 viewers.
The figures are up considerably from last week’s Bellator 57 fight card, which featured the Bellator season five welterweight and middleweight tournament finals and drew a somewhat paltry audience of 129,000.
It is also being reported that an audience of 160,000 tuned in to catch the immediate replay of Bellator 58.
In the main event of Bellator 58, Eddie Alvarez put his Bellator lightweight championship on the line against unheralded challenger Michael Chandler. Chandler made the most of his opportunity, earning a TKO win over Alvarez in the fourth round after waging a back and forth battle that almost matched Shogun vs. Henderson in intensity.
Bellator 58 went down from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
