UFC 139: Shogun vs. Henderson goes down this Saturday, November 19, from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

The blockbuster fight card features match-ups between Pride veterans Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson, middleweight striking experts Wanderlei Silva and Cung Le, as well as an electrifying bantamweight tilt between former champs Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles.

All of those fighters appeared on the dais today for the pre-fight press conference; UFC president Dana White is under the weather and not attending today’s presser. The following are notes and quotes from the event.

-Urijah Faber talks old stories about Dan Henderson, revealing that Hendo doesn’t run. “He’s a unique guy, like a pirate or something.”

-Hendo: I guess I’ve got no comment on that, I do other things to get in shape.

-Shogun says he’s very happy to be competing on the same card as Wanderlei, since they’ve been friends for a long time. He hopes they both win.

-Silva says his favorite fight of Shogun’s was his win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Shogun’s favorite of Wanderlei’s was his rematch with Ricardo Arona.

-Shogun relays his respect for Henderson. “He’s one of the best.”

-Hendo on the difference between fighting three and five rounds: “The difference is two rounds.”

-Urijah Faber is asked if he would fight seven round championship fights, “How about a fight to the death?”

-”I definitely think it will clear up any questions on who fights Cruz next. … The winner of us has to be fighting Cruz next.” – Brian Bowles
