UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre just wants Nick Diaz to make all his media obligations and keep his fight on schedule for UFC 143 in February. St-Pierre and Diaz is the planned main event for a second time after Diaz was pulled from their originally scheduled fight at UFC 137 due to not showing up for press conferences.
GSP, while speaking with MMA Heat this past weekend at UFC on FOX 1: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos, understands why Diaz took the road he did to get a title shot over Carlos Condit. The former Strikeforce welterweight champion called out St-Pierre after defeating BJ Penn in the main event of UFC 137 last month.
“I think he’s very smart, in a way,” said St-Pierre (thanks to MMAMania.com for transcribing). “I don’t think he’s a bad person, I think he disrespected me to push me to try to have a title shot. And I just hope he shows up for the press conferences and all his responsibilities that’s around the fight to make this fight happen because I want to fight him.”
UFC 143 takes place February 4 from Las Vegas, Nevada. St-Pierre is currently recovering from a knee injury suffered in training earlier this year.
