Shane Carwin, who was in position to fight Cain Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight title had he defeated Junior dos Santos earlier this year, went to The Underground MMA forum to defend Velasquez following his knockout loss to dos Santos Saturday night at UFC on FOX 1.
“I know we are about to call the Cain hype train derailed. I want to remind you guys how young and talented he is. Junior hits hard and is accurate. This should not be a surprise to any of you. Cain is a young talented fighter and if you want to see the qualities of a UFC Champion you have to look no farther then Cain,” wrote Carwin. “Everyone loses it is what they do with that loss that defines them. I am certain that Cain will be a Champion again.”
Carwin, a former interim UFC heavyweight champion, is currently on the sidelines due to a back surgery. He has lost his last two fights, falling to dos Santos and Brock Lesnar.
