UFC On FOX Is Most Watched MMA Event In U.S. History

New numbers have been released concerning Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 1: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos ratings and the results are even better than originally reported, according to a report by USA Today. The hour-long broadcast drew 5.7 million viewers, eclipsing the previous record set in 2008 for a CBS EliteXC card that included Kimbo Slice which drew 4.9 million viewers.

The main event saw Junior dos Santos defeat Cain Velasquez and claim the UFC heavyweight title. It was the lone fight in the one-hour show, which included commentary from UFC President Dana White and former UFC champion Brock Lesnar.

Opposed by a college football showdown between Oregon and Stanford, UFC on FOX pulled down a 4.3 household rating in the key 18-to-34 male age group.

Peak viewer ratings won’t be available until later in the week. Slice’s fight peaked with 7 million viewers, but did not face competition from any other major sporting events.
