UFC On Fox: Clay Guida Vs. Benson Henderson

Guida makes his way to the cage for this battle for title contention to the strains of “My Hero” by Foo Fighters. Referee Herb Dean will oversee this lightweight tilt.

Round 1: No glove touch to start this one off. Guida comes out bouncing frenetically, Henderson more calm and collected. Guida lands a leg kick. Henderson clips Guida with a right hand that drops him. Guida puts his back on the cage and throws down wildly, Henderson takes his time and picks his shots, dropping Guida again. Guida goes for the takedown and Henderson avoids it. Guida fighting very hard for the takedown now. Henderson defending well and slipping in ground and pound when he can. Henderson working knees from the clinch now. Henderson turns Guida into the fence with double underhooks and starts working knees. Guida tries for the takedown again and cannot complete it, though he does land a left on the break. Henderson nails Guida with a punch when he tries for a flying knee. Guida continues to press forward though and drops Henderson in a swarm of punches. He tries to sink a guillotine, but can’t. Henderson riding on top of Guida as the round closes. They stand before the bell and Henderson gets off a knee and a kick.

Round 2: Henderson lunges in with a knee and then defends the takedown, getting in a right hand. Guida briefly gets Henderson down, but Henderson reverses and ends up on top. As they stand, Henderson lands a good knee before dropping down and easily planting Guida on the mat. Guida gets to his knees and then to his feet, but Henderson hits him with a knee and drops back down for the takedown. Henderson grating Guida against the fence and throwing solid knees. Guida catches one and takes Henderson down, but Henderson quickly fights to his feet. Guida leaning into Henderson against the fence, landing short knees to the thighs. Guida tries for, but can’t get another takedown. Henderson turns him into the fence. They separate. Henderson clips Guida with a right hand when Guida tries for a spinning back fist. Guida goes reeling and Henderson ends up on top of him. Guida tries for the guillotine, but Henderson avoids and takes Guida’s back. Henderson puts on the body triangle with thirty seconds left. He rides out the position until the bell.

Round 3: Henderson opens up with a head kick that barely misses. Guida wades into the pocket and eats a counter. Henderson misses on an axe kick. Both men swinging hard. Guida lands a knee to the body and they clinch, Henderson pressing Guida into the cage. Henderson lands a good knee and then avoids a takedown that Guida drives all the way across the cage to try and complete. Henderson drops for a takedown of his own. Henderson kneeing Guida on the cage; he ducks a head kick and takes Guida down. Henderson passes into side contro easily, looking to mount. Guida tries to fight to hi feet, but gives up his back to Henderson, who puts on the body triangle. Just over a minute left and Guida fights free. They collide and end up on the mat, Henderson on his back. Guida puts on the guillotine and tries to finish it, but Henderson defends. Henderson on top now, wailing on Guida as he looks for the takedown.
