Though most fighters and pundits have been picking Cain Velasquez to retain his UFC heavyweight title tonight over Junior dos Santos, a recent poll of FightLine readers shows that some MMA fans remain divided over the matter.
The poll showed forty-four percent of the FightLine readers who participated chose Velasquez to win by finish and another forty-four percent voted for dos Santos to take the bout within the distance; only nine percent see Velasquez taking a decision and just three percent are calling for dos Santos to take it by decision.
Fans, media and fighters alike can all agree that this bout promises excitement, as Velasquez and dos Santos represent the two best heavyweight fighters currently competing in the sport and neither man is known for putting on lackluster performances. For that reason, the UFC chose this bout to kick off their seven-year broadcasting deal with Fox networks.
The fights will kick off around 4:45pm ET, with a nine-fight preliminary card that will air on FoxSports.com, Facebook and Fox Deportes, and will be headlined by a high-stakes lightweight tilt between Clay Guida and Benson Henderson; then, Velasquez and dos Santos will take center stage as the focus of a one-hour broadcast on Fox. As always, FightLine will be here with live, ongoing coverage of the event, starting with the preliminary card.
