Seventeen fighters who competed on last month’s UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz fight card were drug tested following their fights and all seventeen of them passed their individual screenings.
In addition to main event competitors BJ Penn and Nick Diaz, Sherdog reports that Cheick Kongo, Roy Nelson, Scott Jorgensen, Hatsu Hioki, Donald Cerrone, Eliot Marshall, Brandon Vera, Chris Camozzi, Francis Carmont, Ramsey Nijem, Daniel Downes, Bart Palaszewski, Tyson Griffin, Dustin Jacoby and Clifford Starks were all tested as well.
UFC 137 went down on October 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada; the event was expected to feature a welterweight title fight between UFC 170lbs. champion Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, but saw the line-up shuffled when Diaz was ousted from the main event for flaking out on his media obligations. Carlos Condit was removed from his co-main event bout against BJ Penn and put in Diaz’s place against GSP, while Diaz was pitted against Penn. GSP got injured shortly before the fight and Penn vs. Diaz was promoted to the main event.
Following an emphatic victory over Penn, Diaz was granted the title shot against St-Pierre ahead of Condit; the two will likely meet at UFC 143 on Super Bowl weekend.
