The UFC announced today that a welterweight match-up between Matt Riddle and Luis Ramos has been verbally agreed to for the promotion’s New Year’s Eve weekend show in Vegas.
A cast member on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter, Matt Riddle began his professional career inside of the UFC and has fought each of his eight professional fights within the promotion’s eight chain-link walls. Sporting a record of 5-3, the 25-year-old is currently riding a two-fight losing streak, having dropped unanimous decisions to Sean Pierson and Lance Benoist. He most recently appeared in action against Benoist last September at UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger.
30-year-old Brazilian Luis Ramos made his UFC debut this past August in his home country, taking on Erick Silva at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro; he was beaten by his countryman via quick first round TKO. Prior to that bout, Ramos had put together a three-fight winning streak. The Nova Uniao-trained fighter sports an overall record of 19-7.
UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem is scheduled to take place on December 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight card will be headlined by a blockbuster heavyweight fight between former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and the most recent Strikeforce heavyweight champ, Alistair Overeem.
