The UFC has added two lightweight bouts featuring Brazilian fighters to UFC 142, which is set to take place January 14 from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Thiago Tavares (16-4-1) will meet Sam Stout (17-6-1), while Edson Barboza (9-0) takes on Terry Etim (15-3). It was not announced if either fight will end up on the pay-per-view main card, which currently features UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo defending his title against Chad Mendes and Vitor Belfort battling Anthony Johnson.
Tavares rebounded from a knockout loss to Shane Roller by knocking out Spencer Fisher at UFC 134 earlier this year. Stout has not fought for an extended amount of time after losing his coach, Shawn Tompkins, to a sudden heart attack. The Canadian has won two straight fights.
Barboza has won all three of his UFC fights, including a split decision victory over Ross Pearson this past August. Etim stopped Eddie Faalototo at UFC 138 last weekend in just 17 seconds.
