UFC 138: Leben vs. Muñoz went down today at the LG Arena in Birmingham, England and though the fight card was criticized by many as being lackluster, it delivered an action-packed main card that didn’t see any fight enter the third round. As always, fight night bonuses were handed out for the superlative competitors on the card, this time in the amount of $70,000.
Fight of the Night honors were given to Brad Pickett and Renan Barao for their one-round battle in the night’s co-main event. The hometown favorite, Pickett came out ready for war against Barao, but was simply one step behind the surging Brazilian. Barao countered Pickett’s assault well and eventually knocked him to the mat, where he applied the fight-ending rear naked choke.
Knockout of the Night was given to UFC newcomer and native Englishman Che Mills, who starched The Ultimate Fighter 13 contestant Chris Cope early in the first round with a combination started with pinpoint knee to the head.
The Submission of the Night bonus was awarded to English mainstay Terry Etim, who took out Eddie Faaloloto in front of his countrymen with a guillotine choke in just seventeen seconds of the first round in the night’s main card opener.
