Though the UFC on Fox 1 main event between UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and challenger Junior dos Santos is buttressed by nine preliminary fights, the hour-long Fox network debut broadcast will only feature the title fight.
Tough breaks for Ben Henderson and Clay Guida.
UFC president Dana White announced today during the UFC on Fox 1 conference call that Velasquez vs. dos Santos will be the only fight featured for their Fox debut, regardless of whether it lasts for one minute or goes the full twenty-five.
“There’s only going to be one fight,” said White. “The heavyweight championship fight is the only fight that’s going to be on Fox. (Even) if it goes 10 seconds.”
To kick off their landmark, seven-year broadcasting deal with Fox networks, the UFC is bringing a heavyweight title fight between Velasquez and dos Santos to network television on the Fox channel. The nine-fight preliminary card will be broadcast live on both Facebook and Fox.com.
The fight card will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California next Saturday, November 12.
